What’s behind the DJ booth? I’ll show you.

I field questions nearly every event from guests who want to see what’s going on behind the DJ booth. The reality is, there’s a lot. There is a dedicated music laptop usually running 2 or 3 different music programs. There is another laptop dedicated to controlling the colors and movements for upwards of 35 light fixtures. There are microphones, receivers, transmitters, midi control boards, audio mixers, turntables, iPads, and various control boxes all strategically set up with a role to play. Everything works together to create a seamless integration between music and lighting. And you’d likely never know it, but there’s a lot going on.

The love story Brian and Jennifer began nearly 10 years ago when they met through their mutual friend Tara Brown. Brian had agreed to a night out dancing with a friend group commonly referred to as the “dancing divas.” When Brian arrived at the at the club Jen could not help but notice. Not only was he was the only guy in a group of 6 ladies, but he arrived dressed slightly nerdy and wearing a pair of Birkenstock type sandals.

Keep the photo booth and bar in the same area as the dance floor

A separate bar and dance floor means the crowd gets spread out and less people are having fun on the dance floor. Nguyen says, “The party goes wherever the bride and groom go, so if the bar and photo booth are outside, the party would follow the bride and groom to the bar and photo booth.”

An American style wedding for the Japanese bride

5 Years ago Scott LaMont left his comfortable Woodinville neighborhood and ventured off across the globe to teach English in Japan. But on this day he returned to that very neighborhood to marry his beautiful bride. Elly, born and raised in Japan, was excited with the possibility of a western style wedding, and the Crystal Lake Lodge provided the perfect backdrop to begin their lives together. With Scott’s sister Lindsey coming home from Greece to help with preparations, this was a wedding that would connect a family on three continents.

The ceremony began as a story of adventure and discovery with Scott as the protagonist in this tale. And the final moments of the evening provided the conclusion worthy of a classic storybook. Proving that the hero could get the girl, return to his new home and indeed live happily ever after.READ MORE

South Africa and Nebraska come together…

How do South Africa and Nebraska come together? In the form of Andy and Jamie. Their wedding was on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the Seattle Tennis Club on the shores of Lake Washington. The April showers broke just long enough for Mt Rainier to make an appearance through the Southeast window of the club. Guests made their way in from City Church to a reception they would truly remember.

Andrew and Jamie’s reception was a celebration and a joining of two people who had come from so far, only to become so close. As evident by their friends’ toasts, Andy and Jamie had been preparing for this day since the first time they met. This was the day they had dreamt of sharing with their family and friends.READ MORE
