7 Golden Tips for Vendor Relations

Team Work Makes the Dream Work – Wedding Vendor Relations Tips

By Katy Roberts, VOWS Owner, Lead Wedding/Event Planner and Designer

My most memorable moments, when looking back over my 10 years working weddings, are those that I felt respected, trusted, and appreciated. There’s something about positive reinforcement that unlocks the flood gates of creativity, patience, energy and generosity.  Clients hire us, yes.  There’s a contract and a check written, but I consider myself your team member vs. your employee and when I’m treated this way nothing from good comes from it.READ MORE

Plan for the Impactful

Wrong songs, missed cues, confusion, unfamiliarity with equipment, unprofessional announcements, excuses (“it’s very dark over here…?”), even the MC’s attire left much to be desired. Clearly the couple could not have been pleased with this performance.READ MORE

I was speaking to a new client for an event a few days ago and we were speaking about my experience and what kind of events I specialize in. At that time she revealed to me her very own horror story about her wedding DJ. Feedback, missed cues, miss-pronunciation, and clumsy announcements all seemed to be more prevalent than dancing. Now, usually at this point in the conversation I have to tread very lightly because I don’t want to insult (on purpose or by accident) another company in the industry. However, this time I couldn’t help myself. Already recognizing the name of the company she mentioned I had to ask….

“Do you mind if I ask you how much they charged?”READ MORE
